Hello! My name is Amber Moon Leigh.
I am a Kalama, Washington based artist. Originally a mixed media artist (because I could never commit to just one medium), I picked up a camera in 2022 to start catching my own images to use in my art. As a third generation grain handler at a grain elevator on the bank of the Columbia River (affectionately known as “Old Kalama”), I grew up getting to see a behind-the-scenes view of a unique industrial setting. The last 30+ years on the job have given me a deep appreciation for the beauty of concrete and metal (the rustier the better)- but ALSO the birds who make our facility their home. Documenting them has become a daily part of my life. Bird portaits led to people portaits, and I’m currently exploring conceptual and artistic photography combining the two. I love to put my photographs together in composites that tell stories I have never written.
